The Perfect Present

I think all this snow has frozen my brain for I've lost the ability to think straight (What's new?)  Methinks I  need to venture outside, mix with and embrace the human race! Hmmm. Sod that for a game of soldiers! Over the past few days I've been hibernating, eating chocolates, reading poetry and watching CRAP TV. I've taught myself how to create flowcharts in Excel. Melikey flowcharts, saves writing lots of technical BORING words. Oh, I've started building a sculpture out of coloured paper clips. Its growing on me! By summer I hope it will be the size of house and it will go on and win the 2011 Turner Prize! (So if you have any spare coloured paper clips lying around send them my way. Pigeon post will do just fine)

Oh, the best thing I've discovered is the present that beats all presents. No need to spend hours wrapping it up.No batteries required. Everyone you give it to will just love it ?

Do you want to know what it is?

NO!

Oh come on where's you sense of adventure?

Errr ok! (sigh)

That's better you don't want to be a part pooper now. Do you?  For it's the season to be jolly! ;-)

Right 'ere it comes.

Drum roll !!! Can you feel the excitment?

It's a wee little gem of a poem

The Value of a Smile by Anonymous

A smile cost nothing, but gives much

It enriches those who receive
without making poorer those who give
It takes but a moment
but the memory of it sometimes lasts forever

None is rich or mighty that he can get along without it,
and none is so poor but that he can be made rich by it

A smile creates happiness in the home
fosters good will in business
and is the countersign of friendship
It brings rest to the weary
cheer to the discouraged
sunshine to the sad
and is nature's best antidote for trouble

Yet it cannot be bought, begged, borrowed or stolen,
for it is something that is of no value to anyone
until it is given away
Some people are too tired to give you a smile
Give them one of yours
as none needs a smile so much as he who has no more to give.

Love your new look.
Love your images.
Love your post.
I love too the idea of poems as presents and smiles, they could be given all year and cost nothing.

I'm off for a good look round now.

Absolutely true.

Just as long as we don't freeze our teeth. Maybe a good grin:-)

Oh dear, TF, it sounds like you're starting to hibernate...well, as much as we humans do in the cold winter months. I have to admit, I've been fighting - and losing - the urge to hole up in the warmth and turn to chocolate and soppy movies for winter comfort. ;-)

And I love that smile poem :-))
