Self-censorship

Hmmm, by nature I'm a VERY open minded lady, but early this morning I deleted a blog post that I posted yesterday. It was one of my serious posts, that in hindsight (but not really sure) may of been a tad upsetting/controversial in its nature, as indicated by a nasty comment (lots of swearing ) left by an unknown anonymous reader via the comments box.

So I've had no choice today but to stop anonymous comments being permitted on this blog. I've set the comments box to access to users with Google accounts only.

Shame, as I'm a great believer in freedom of speech. But, hey-ho a lesson learnt, I guess but methinks I need to ponder more :O

Blimey, TF, I can't believe a post of yours would upset anyone. Controversial? Well, why not? Flippin' 'eck, what's the world coming to if we can't be a bit controversial now and again?

I trust you'll put the actions of the anonymous idiot behind you and carry on posting in your normal fashion.

Oh, and they scraped a 3-2 win. Just. :)

Shirley, I know but what really peeved me is that I'm so ruddy liberal in my views and not one (as a rule) to judge or condemn others. Sigh....

I'll be back to fight another day. Just need to take stock for a wee while.

Great result, we may go and watch the replay between Woking and Brigton tomorrow. But I'm not going if its too cold, bugger that for a game of soldiers ;-) TFx

Sod 'em, I say!

The replay will be brilliant. Just remember - 14 items of clothing. At least. Get those thermals aired, TF. :)

Shirley, LOL! Thermals? Very fetching! I'l have t grab a pair from M & S before the match. I wonder if they do them in black? ;-) TFx

Sounds to me like the reader may not have been very well in the head. Don't you dare let it put you off posting missus xx

How could anyone EVER take offense at anything you write. Honestly, some people ...:-(

I enjoy your serious posts, your bonkers posts - anything you care to serve us with. So just keep on doing it - y'hear. x

Hang on...you're going to watch the replay? Which team are you cheering for? If it's not the Seagulls, I'm going to hurl abuse, google account or no :-) x

(Mr NB, WOKING! Except the other half is stuck in London. So this Surrey bird will have to follow it on the internet, too blinkin' cold and misty to venture out tonight anyway! Come on the Reds! :O

Yes, everything everyone else has said with bells on. You're my favourite *did you get that I was talking like Brucie then* xx

Anons can be very ignorant.

Crystal Jigsaw said...

That is such a shame. Why do people do that? Commenting anon is just so cowardly if all you want to do is upset the blog author. I delete comments which are likely to cause offence to my other readers, and occasionally if they cause offence to me. But I have deleted posts in the past, too. Some have been paranormal that people seem to be afraid of commenting on, and some have just been really shit! I hate deleting posts that I've spent a long time on but I guess it's our blog, our choice. Don't let anyone bully you online - it's apparently rife right now and I find it disgusting and extremely shameful.
