A Rough Diamond

Remember why we're like diamonds

"A diamond starts its life as a piece of grit. Only after it has been pressed down and crushed for thousands of years does it become fashioned into an object of precious, lasting value to others. Similarly, as human beings, those events which seem so hard to bear are the very things which ultimately teach us about ourselves and shape us into soulful, multi-dimensional people"

Words by Paul Foster (Actor).

TF is in a strange reflective mood at the moment which is making her a tad melancholic. A hot bath and a book of poetry beckons

Trouble is, when do we get to feel all smooth and shiny?

Hey, how are you doing? Hope all is well.

Good quote.

I don't know if you remember, years ago I asked (on the blog) whether 'Hypothetical Esther' was happy even though nothing bad had ever happened her. Most people said she was but I still doubt that. She may have been happy but she wouldn't have been very interesting.

Enjoy your chill out.

Life is a rough and gritty ride for some of us, but for me it makes me appreciate how great some of the small stuff is. Take care Blu.

'What dosen't kill you makes you stronger' kind of thing. Great theory but I'm with Dar, don't like feeling crap.

Aw, hope you're OK, TF? Sh*t happens and all that but it's what we do with it that counts. Put it on the roses, I say :-)

Trouble is I feel like a smooh shiny diamond floating in a gritty sea of poo. Happy 2009, hopefully a better one anyway, but no signs as yet. Still living in a cocoon of stupidity and archaic nonsense here.

Hope your diamond-like sparkle is back soon. I supposed if we were dazzling all the time, people would have to turn their eyes away, it would be too much.

Dearest TF

When the glums got me back in November, I had a bowl of custard and a sticky toffee pudding and a read of the new Maeve Binchy Heart and Soul, I did truly feel much better for it.

Hope today is a better day for you my lovey x

Blimey, I thought I'd gone blind for a minute Tommo - I can't see the lovely comments on your blog!!

Very wise words by that actor chappie, and if you can't be reflective at the start of a brand New Year, when can you be? That's what I want to know :o))

Great quote that. Be nice to get that way without being pressed down and crushed for years though.

Tis the time of year to be reflective and a tad melancholic me thinks. Hope the bath and the poetry helped and that you're soon back on your usual sparkling form.

BTW, how many of those trees have you got on the production line?;o)

Hot bath and poetry? You're very good; I'd be reaching for a bottle and the chocolate cupboard.

Hope you're feeling happier now as well as gloriously philosophical. Here's a hug to help with all that extra strengthening.
